Waste Water Treatment
Our partner is a quality brand name for made-to-measure and ecological wastewater treatment plants as compact solution. They can look back on long term experience in engineering, production, installation and operation in the field of environmental engineering, especially in plant engineering and construction in the wastewater branch. Since 1983they offers modular solutions for wastewater treatment of domestic, municipal and industrial origin.
The wastewater treatment plants are based on the rotating immersion disk technology (RID) that is characterized by high and stable biological purification efficiency. With our advanced wastewater
treatment the client is well equipped for the future.
Offering tailor-made wastewater solutions which consist of modular standard components – efficiency and cost effectiveness are our main targets. The advances of the RID technology are the grade
of reliability, the simple maintenance and the extremely low energy costs.
Our Partner has set itself modern quality principles and targets, which are followed in engineering and production. Highest priority is the client`s wish. This means that high efficiency has to
be achieved, which is visualized using modern CAD-technology and quality management.
Biodisk-Technology:
Our Partner is well positioned as middle size company in the international market. Sales and distribution outside Germany are organised.
Innovations in Biodisk-Technology:
The biocontactor technology has been used in wastewater treatment successfully since more than a hundred years. The special advantage of the bio-contactor is the fixing of the biomass on solid
surfaces for biological growth which generally rotate half submerged in the wastewater. This allows high sludge ages to be reached, so that the biomass can adapt to specific wastewater conditions
and lead to a remarkable reduction of the excess sludge production. We also uses this potential for the treatment of special wastewaters. Scientific research shows the special treatment
efficiency of this technology. Even difficult wastewaters loaded with high polluting potential, such as high nitrogen contents, difficult biodegradable organic substances, or high mineral
contents can be treated with high efficiency by the specially adapted biomass.
Due to this increased ability of adaptation from the biomass on the rotating immersion disks many other possibilities for applications in wastewater treatment are possible. These possibilities
have been successfully achieved in cooperation with worldwide leading institutes. Based on the latest perceptions we are in the position to develop and optimize individual treatment technologies
for specific wastewater compositions.
The Biological Treatment Step
In the biological treatment step, the dissolved and fine dispersed organic loads are converted into clean water and sediment solids through bacteria in an aerobe purification process. The
sediment solid is often referred to as excess sludge.
In immersion disc plants, the biofilm situated on the growing surface is intermittently exposed to the atmosphere and the wastewater to be treated.
The aerobe biological treatment process leads first of all to the reduction of organic carbon compounds, described by the values of BOD5 and COD. Furthermore, the harmful and volatile ammonia
nitrogen is converted into immobile nitrate nitrogen. This process is called nitrification. For both processes, treatment efficiencies of up to 99% can be reached. If the treated wastewater is
re-circulated into an upstream reaction tank, denitrification can also be achieved. In this process, the carbon compounds of the reaction tanks detract the oxygen fixed in the nitrate so that the
nitrogen can escape in elemental form.
The advantage of the aerobe biological technologies is the almost odorless process of the wastewater treatment.
We uses the rotating immersion disc technology for the biological wastewater treatment. This technology represents a combination of trickling filter and biological contactors. The rotating
immersion disks provide the most energetically efficient technological process, as only the rotor with the biomass turns so as to keep mechanical abrasion minimal. For the dimensioning of the
biological rotating immersion disk step, we follows the ATV-guideline A 281. For other climate zones, this guideline is appropriately modified thanks to the experience of more than 30
years. Plants in which the required oxygen is brought into the wastewater via compressed air or surface aerators have an energy demand of 50% more than plants based on biodisk technology.
The high sludge age of the biomass achieved through the fixed film process used by proves that the excess sludge production is up to 50% less.
Incineration of sewage waste
Incineration of sewage waste is increasingly becoming criticized because of:
– high levels of dioxin and furans in the exhaust emissions
– contamination of resultant ash by heavy metals
– high costs for flue gas decontamination plants
Result: Incineration is no longer acceptable due to high pollution by emissions and contaminated ash. The thermal procedure has certainly a large range of application but compared to the
ECOREFINE it requires approximately the triple power supply. Additionally the great expenditure for the purification of the flue gas causes far higher costs.
The biological treatment appears to be the more profitable one, but at least there is still rest sewage sludge. That is why environmental offices in some countries already ban the dumping
of rest sewage sludge on landfill, alternative, environmentally safe technologies are in demand.
Safe and environmentally friendly dispose of infectious sewage sludge.
Disinfection for germs & Bacteria
Guaranteed sterilization of infectious rest sewage sludge can only be achieved by taking place prior to thermal vacuum treatment, a part of the Blue Sewage system. Liquids contained in the
waste are not a problem for the purifying process, not one germ survives.Due to its compact modular design, the ECOREFINE System has a throughput rate from 300 kg up to far more than 1000
kg per hour.
Unique System
Create a green landscape
Special fertilizer for trees and the lawns, water saving irrigations system and the results of the waste processing ECOREFINE.
Employing mineral fertilizers in the cleaned ECOREFINE compost replaces everything that plants have taken from the soil with the exception of Humus.
However, Humus is the only guarantee for healthy growth, freedom from noxious agents and continuous fertility. With the above mentioned method you can change the desert into farmland, reducing on
the same time leftover food (Hotels restaurants, private), green cutting etc.

Pelleting
Municipal and
Industrial sewage sludge
A pelleting plant installed by KAHL PRESS has been in operation for several years and is controlled automatically from a central switch plant. All operating data of the plant are gathered there
and the corresponding reports are printed out.
Due to the automatic operation, operating phases of about 3 months are possible. During this time the pelleting plant is operated unattended. After 3 months the regular preventive repairs are
carried out, before the plant is set in operation again.
The bulk density of the sewage sludge pellets is about 800 kg/m3. The dust content is very low with < 1 % referred to a dust particle size of < 0.5 mm. All other fines do not cause dust
nuisance during further treatment. Under regular operating conditions the pelleting elements have a service life of 1,500 to 2,000 hours.
All safety regulations are fulfilled. The highest circumferential speed is 2.5 m/s and the surface temperatures are far below 120 °C. Consequently fire risks in the plant can be excluded.
Pelleted sewage sludge
Pelleted sewage sludge is demanded more and more frequently in tenders, as the subsequent treatment of a compacted, dustless final product is more efficient. This applies to the transport, the
use as cover material in agriculture, or the thermal utilisation.
For pelleting the sewage sludge which is pretreated in whatever manner,a solids content of 60 to 95 % is required. This content is achieved by means of dehydration and subsequent thermal drying
or by a combination of both processing steps. The pretreatment of the sewage sludge in a digestion tower has a positive effect on the capacity of the pelleting press as well as the wear of the
pan grinder rollers and die.
With a solids content of 60 % less solid pellets are produced than with 90 %. The solids content chosen depends on the further use of the sewage sludge. The machines to be used are determined by
the variable percentage of organic substances and the lowest pH value.
In case of a high percentage of organic substances the dried sewage sludge has a high volume and can only be proportioned into the press by means of special devices due to is bulk density of 150
- 200 kg/m².
Besides, grinding will be required be-fore pelleting. In case of the flat die pelleting press used by PRESS, grinding is effected by means of the cylindrical pan grinder rollers which rotate on the die. For this reason the PRESS pelleting system is particularly appropriate for the above-described product, as it can be adapted without problems to varying organic contents.
