There are people in this world who have a lasting effect on our environment and are spending their life trying to create a better world for us and our children.
We would like to dedicate this section to mention and thank these people for their support and invaluable work towards realizing the vision of the Blue Building Foundation.
The idea of implementing a Hall of Fame, after the fashion of the Walhalla in Regensburg, Germany, and to honor those men and women who truly dedicate their life to improve our environment belongs to Mr. Erhard Schütz. Hereby we do not mean the public figures who receive government funds and prices, who stand in the spotlight and whose motives and benefits are sometimes questioned by those who like to critically screen through information and technology. We are referring to the many men and women who make this world a better place little by little, who are not seen or heard of in the media and who recognize that their value is in positive change rather than shiny trophies.
Prof. Erhard Schütz
Vice President of the Blue Building Foundation 2005 - 2016
It is with great sadness that we announce the recent passing of Mr. Erhard Schütz, valued friend and Vice President of the Blue Building Foundation. He passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on the 27th of March 2016.
In 20 years of collaboration with Blue Building, Mr. Schütz has become an invaluable partner and a dedicated and close friend, who shared the vision of a healthier future for all of us. His exceptional dedication, talent, mind and loyalty will be truly missed.
Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones, may God be with them in their time of grieving and as they adjust to this great loss.
In his memory and honour, we would like to ensure that the realization of the vision of the Blue Building Concept will be continued and that his invaluable work towards a sustainable environment will stay with us forever.
Prof. Erhard Schütz and The-Environmentalist have been long-lasting friends for many years, who shared the same vision and mindset. It was therefore a natural choice for Mr. Schütz to take over the Vice Presidency, in addition to his high professionalism as an architect, advisor and educator.
Erhard Schütz (1956 - 2016) was a professor at the Bauhaus Weimar, University of Architecture and Building Sciences and principal of E.S. Architects. As a Fulbright Scholar, he spent several years in the United States researching the American roots of modern architecture. Previously, Mr. Schütz worked as an associated architect with the Berkus Group Architects and Planners in Washington D.C. He also taught at Texas Tech University and Syracuse University before returning to Europe as an academic guest of the Faculty of the Federal Polytechnic Institute in Zurich, Switzerland. His research and practice in architecture and urban design was focused on actual tasks concerning the restructuring of the former East Germany. Mr. Schütz received his education in Germany and at Syracuse University.
